Description
Narrow-leaved ironweed (Vernonia lettermannii) is a US native that typically reaches 4 to 5 feet tall, with slender green leaves and bright purple flowers in late summer to fall. A few years ago, a self-sown seedling from a species plant appeared in my garden with purplish pink flowers. I have no idea if these seeds will maintain this color, produce a range of pinks and purples, or be solid purple, but I offer them for those of you who enjoy experimenting with something different. If nothing else, you’ll end up with a nice purple-flowered ironweed. Full sun. Perennial; Zones 4 to 9.
Collected in early November 2022. At least 20 seeds. Unknown ecotype.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
