Description
Formerly known as Tiarella cordifolia var. cordifolia or just T. cordifolia, this spreading foamflower is now known as Tiarella stolonifera. It reaches about 6 inches tall in leaf, with lobed, green foliage that makes a great-looking groundcover for shady sites and woodland plantings. The slender bloom stems reach 8 to 12 inches tall, with the top half lined in small, starry, white blossoms in mid- to late spring. It’s a lovely partner for other early-flowering perennials, such as spring vetchling (Lathyrus vernus) and polyanthus primroses (Primula), and it makes a terrific filler around upright ferns, bushy perennials, and deciduous shrubs. This wildflower is native to much of the eastern half of North America. Perennial; Zones 4 to 8 or 9.
Collected in early June 2023. At least 15 seeds. Very limited quantity. (Even though I have a good-sized patch, very little seed forms.) Unknown ecotype. Shipping to US addresses only.
