Commonly known as Carolina lupine or Carolina bushpea (Thermopsis villosa or T. caroliniana), this U.S. native perennial produces lupine-like spikes of yellow flowers atop 4- to 5-foot-tall stems in late spring or early summer, followed by interesting, long-lasting seedpods. Full sun. Perennial; Zones 4 to 8.
