After growing and enjoying ‘Variegata’ tomato for many years, I was thrilled to find several other strains of tomatoes with variegated foliage, including this one. ‘Painted Lady’ is a lovely indeterminate, potato-leaf type with showy, bright white variegation, at least until hot weather sets in. The fruits are relatively small—about plum-sized—and may have a flat or somewhat pointed base. They are distinctly striped with light and dark green at first, maturing to red with golden stripes, and very flavorful. In my garden, this tomato was the last one to start ripening, but it was prolific and a consistent producer after that, providing a steady harvest in August and September. Full sun. Annual.
Harvested in August 2020. At least 8 seeds.
