Description
If you’re looking to brighten up the palette of your spring garden, fire pink (Silene virginica) is definitely worth a look. Native to much of eastern North America, this showy woodland wildflower bears brilliant red, five-petaled flowers on 12- to 18-inch-tall stems from mid-spring to early summer. They’re a great source of nectar for early-returning hummingbirds. Partial shade. Perennial; Zones 4 to 8. Individual plants can be short-lived but the patch may continue through self-sowing.
Collected in mid-June 2022. At least 15 seeds. Limited quantity; one packet per customer. (For as many flowers as the plants produce, my plants don’t produce very much seed, for some reason.) Ecotype unknown.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
