Description
If you’re looking to brighten up your fall garden, consider giving this late-flowering form of orange coneflower a try. It starts blooming even later than Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii, continuing from late August well into October (at least in my southeastern Pennsylvania garden). The plants usually top out at about 30 inches tall, with small but abundant, dark-centered golden flowers that attract butterflies and dark seedheads that supply food for birds. This variety combines beautifully with asters and warm-season ornamental grasses, such as little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) and prairie dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepis). Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 4 to 9.
2021-collected seeds sold out. I hope to collect again in early to mid October 2021. At least 20 seeds.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
