Description
Balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorus) produces puffed-up buds that open into purple-blue flowers in mid- to late summer, with scattered rebloom in autumn. The rich green foliage turns yellow, sometimes shaded with maroon, in fall. Plants usually reach about 3 feet tall; if you wish to keep them somewhat shorter, try cutting the plants back by about half in late spring (in other words, if the plants are about 10 inches tall then, cut them back to about 5 inches above the ground). Full sun to partial shade. Perennial; Zones 3 or 4 to 8.
Collected in early October 2023. At least 25 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
