Plantago major ‘Variegata’ (Variegated Plantain) [20 Seeds]
$4.75
Germination Information: I recommend these very small seeds for experienced seed-sowers only, because they may require some patience and careful handling. The easiest approach is to surface-sow—do not cover—the seeds in fall to late winter, setting them outdoors so they can get a chilling period and then germinate when conditions are right in spring. (The winter-sowing technique works great for germinating this plantain.)
If you sow after February, give the pot an artificial chilling period of about a month.
It is possible that these seeds could germinate if you sow them in warm, moist, bright conditions, though perhaps at a less than optimal percentage. If you try that approach and no seedlings appear within 3 to 4 weeks, then try the artificial-chilling approach above before moving them back to warmth and light.
Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive.

Description
If you have a garden, you have weeds. And if you have weeds, you may as well have cool ones! A small but showy version of broad-leaved plantain (Plantago major), variegated plantain generally reaches about 6 inches tall, with rosettes of broad green leaves irregularly streaked with white. Slender green bloom spikes emerge from the center of the clump in summer and fall; clip them off if you don’t like them or let them stay if you want the plant to self-sow. Full sun to partial shade. Zones 3 to 9.
Collected starting in early July 2023. At least 20 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
