Phaseolus vulgaris ‘Comtesse de Chambord’ (Hungarian Rice Bean) [12 Seeds]

$4.50

Germination Information: I suggest sowing the seeds directly in your garden or container, about 1 inch deep and 2 to 4 inches apart, in early to midsummer. In my experience with growing ‘Comtesse de Chambord’ in containers, the plants typically reach about 1 foot tall and usually don’t need support.

Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive.

Description

Also known as Hungarian rice bean, ‘Comtesse de Chambord’ is an heirloom variety that produces compact, bushy plants, with an abundance of slender pods and very small seeds (about the size of a Tic-Tac candy). Enjoy the pods fresh—the smaller they are, the more tender they are—or let them mature for use as a dry bean. ‘Comtesse de Chambord’ makes a great addition to a container vegetable garden on a deck or patio; it’s ever so much easier to see and harvest the pods when they are in a raised container than when they are at ground level. Full sun. Annual.

Collected in October 2022. At least 12 seeds.

Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
