Phaseolus coccineus ‘Golden Sunshine’ (Runner Bean) [6 Seeds]

$4.85

Germination Information: I suggest sowing these seeds directly in your garden or display container, about 1 inch deep, after your last frost date. Or, start them indoors in a pot in mid to late spring; just be prepared to move them outdoors or to a bigger pot soon after, because the seedlings are large and grow quickly.

Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive.

Description

Runner bean (Phaseolus coccineus) is an annual, twining vine grown mainly for its clusters of bright scarlet blooms, which are produced from mid or late summer to frost. ‘Golden Sunshine’ takes the show to the next level, with bright yellow leaves instead of the usual green. The flowers develop into long, plump pods that contain large, dark seeds speckled with pink. Both the flowers and pods are supposed to be edible, but I have not tried them myself, in favor of getting as many seeds as possible (which is still not many). Height is usually 5 to 6 feet. Like other runner beans, ‘Golden Sunshine’ tends to do best where summers aren’t too hot. Full sun to light shade. Annual.

Collected in September and October 2023. At least 6 seeds. Very limited quantity; limit one packet per customer. Shipping to US addresses only.

Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
