Description
Runner bean (Phaseolus coccineus) is a beautiful, twining vine grown mainly for its clusters of bright scarlet blooms, which are produced from mid or late summer to frost. ‘Golden Sunshine’ takes the show to the next level, with bright yellow leaves instead of the usual green. The flowers develop into long, plump pods that contain large, dark seeds speckled with pink. Both the flowers and pods are edible, but I have never tried them myself, as I want to collect as many seeds as possible. Full sun to light shade. Annual. Like other runner beans, it tends to do best where summers aren’t too hot.
2022-collected seeds are sold out. I hope to collect again in 2023. At least 6 seeds.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
