Persicaria orientalis ‘Shiro-gane Nishiki’ (Variegated Kiss-Me-over-the-Garden-Gate) [12 Seeds]
Germination Information: I recommend these seeds for experienced seed-starters only, because they need a different sowing routine than most annuals. Because this species germinates best in cool conditions (around 55°F), the easiest approach is to sow anytime from late fall to early spring, about 1/8″ deep, either directly in the ground or in a pot you leave outdoors; the seeds will then germinate when conditions are right. Once you get them growing, the plants are likely to self-sow, providing seedlings for the next year without further input from you.
Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive.

Variegated kiss-me-over-the-garden-gate (Persicaria orientalis ‘Shiro-gane Nishiki’ or simply ‘Variegata’) is a dramatic choice for height, foliage, and flowers. It generally reaches 4 to 6 feet by late summer, with sturdy, branching stems that carry broad, green leaves streaked with cream to white markings. From late summer through fall, chains of pink flowers cascade from the shoot tips. Full sun to light shade; average to moist soil. Annual.
Collected in early to mid-October 2021. At least 12 seeds.
