Nigella damascena ‘Cramers’ Plum’ (Love-in-a-Mist) [20 Seeds]
$4.25
Germination Information: Love-in-a-mist seeds tend to grow best if you sow them outdoors in late winter to mid spring, right where you’d like them to grow. Gently press them into the surface of prepared soil and keep the area moist to encourage sprouting.
A fall, winter, or very early spring sowing will likely bloom in late spring to early summer and produce mature seeds in midsummer. Sowing those as soon as they are ripe (when the pods are dry and the seeds inside are black) may produce seedlings that can bloom in fall. If they don’t have enough time to flower before cold weather, the plants are likely to overwinter and bloom vigorously in mid spring of the following year.

Description
‘Cramers’ Plum’ love-in-a-mist (Nigella damascena) is pretty in bloom, with white flowers on bushy, 12- to 18-inch-tall plants, but its most distinctive feature is its long-lasting, reddish plum seedpods. They make a perfect color echo for many plum- to purple-leaved perennials and shrubs. Pick the pods for fresh or dried arrangements, or let them mature fully on the plants and crumble them over your beds and borders; those seeds may germinate, grow, and flower in fall but are more likely to sprout the following spring. Full sun to light shade. Annual.
Collected in July and August 2022. At least 20 seeds.
