Description
Australian tobacco (Nicotiana suaveolens) is also known as austral tobacco or sweet-scented tobacco. This hard-to-find annual produces rosettes of rich green leaves and slender, sparsely branched stems typically 2 to 3 feet tall, with dainty, nodding, tubular flowers that are white inside and often lightly blushed with pink or purple on the outside. They open in the evening, from midsummer into fall. Australian tobacco is known for being fragrant, but to be honest, I don’t notice much scent from its flowers; maybe I’ve just never caught them at the right time. Full sun to partial shade. Annual.
Harvested in July and August 2023. At least 25 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
