Description
Nicotiana mutabilis is lovely in its own right, with a basal rosette of broad, fuzzy, rich green leaves and wide-branching stems that carry white-turning-bright-pink, trumpet-shaped blooms from early or midsummer into fall. There are so many flowers that the various colors are all visible at any given time. Last year, my patch of the species produced a plant with greenish new flowers that age to a rosy pink. I was able to isolate it, and the seeds all came true this spring. I think it’s unique and very pretty, so I decide to name it ‘Hayefield Green’. As with the species, the plants can possibly reach 5 to 6 feet tall in good soil. You can easily keep them shorter and more full-looking by trimming back the longest stems. Full sun to light shade. Annual.
Collected in July through September 2023. At least 30 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
