Description
Last year, a scrawny little flowering tobacco (Nicotiana) seedling popped up in a part of the garden where I hadn’t grown any nicotiana before. The plant produced maybe three dark reddish purple flowers, and one of those set a few seeds, which I decided were worth collecting. This year, the resulting seedlings all bloomed in the same burgundy color, with a greenish exterior, on stems to about 2 feet tall. I think it’s worth preserving, so I’m calling it ‘Hayefield Fine Wine’. The flower’s “face” color is darkest in cooler weather and in a bit of shade; in hot weather and/or strong sun, the reddish aspect is more noticeable. Full sun to partial shade. Annual.
Collected in mid to late July 2023. At least 20 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
