Myrrhis odorata (Sweet Cicely) [10 Seeds]
$4.75
Germination Information: In my experience, these are not easy seeds to germinate, so I don’t recommend buying them unless you really want to grow sweet Cicely and can’t find started plants. I tried fall or winter sowing for several years in a row, with seeds from various sources, and finally got two seedlings to sprout the second spring after sowing. To me, that confirms the advice I’ve seen in a few places about the seeds needing (or at least benefiting from) a warm period before chilling. Sowing recently collected seeds about 1/2 inch deep from mid-June to late August, outdoors in a pot or nursery bed, would give them that warm period; then winter would give them a cold period, hopefully with germination the following spring.

Description
Sweet Cicely (Myrrhis odorata) produces clumps of ferny, green, aromatic foliage that send up 3-foot-tall stems topped with umbels of tiny white flowers in early summer. It’s pretty enough to earn a place as an ornamental but is equally at home in the herb or vegetable garden, as the roots, leaves, and seeds are edible. The blooms also attract a variety of pollinating insects. Partial shade. Perennial; Zones 4 to 8.
Collected in mid June 2023. At least 10 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
