$4.25

Germination Information: Sow the seeds indoors in early to mid spring, pressing them into the surface of moist growing medium, and set in a warm, bright place. Or, direct-sow after your last frost date. Some sources suggest that you can speed up germination by soaking the seeds for a day or two before sowing, or by giving the sown seeds a week or so of chilling (around 40°F, by early sowing outdoors or by placing the seed pot in your refrigerator).

Description

Sweet four-o’clock (Mirabilis longiflora) gets that common name due to the sweet scent of its evening-blooming, pink-centered white flowers. It’s also known as angels trumpets or fairy trumpets, because of the long-tubed, trumpet-shaped blooms. This southwest US native grows in loose, 2- to 3-foot mounds. Its habit is more open than that of other four-o’clocks, so think of it more as a “weaver,” leaning on and popping up through nearby companions. Because of its fragrance, pale color, and evening bloom time, sweet four-o’clock is an excellent addition to a “moon garden” border or containers around a deck, patio, or other area where you like to sit and relax on summer evenings. Full sun. Generally grown as an annual, but it can be perennial in Zones 7 to 11, and it may self-sow too.

Harvested in August and September 2022. At least 12 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
