Description
Even if you never plan to pick it, German chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is a lovely annual to have around as a fragrant filler in beds and borders, with a bounty of small, daisy-form, summer flowers and lacy, bright green leaves on upright, bushy plants. While you have it, though, consider clipping off at least some of the fully open flowers to enjoy as a soothing herbal tea, either fresh or dried.
‘Zloty Lan’ is a Polish strain that is more vigorous than the species, usually reaching 1 to 2 feet tall, with a higher content of essential oil. Apparently some people find the flavor to be different from the usual German chamomile. I didn’t notice a difference, but that may be because I usually combine it with other herbs in tea. Annual. Full sun.
Collected in late June 2023. At least 30 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
