Description
I acquired these seeds from a reputable source as meadow blazing star (Liatris ligulistylis), but when the plants flowered, I realized that some of them were L. ligulistylis and some were rough blazing star (L. aspera). As they were growing all together in my garden, they may have crossed, so I’m selling this as a mix. The two species are very similar-looking, adding tall, fluffy flower spikes to the late summer show. They usually reach 3 to 5 feet tall and can be sprawling in the loose, rich soil of a border if not supported. They’re more likely to stay upright in a meadow-type setting, where there is more competition from grasses and other closely planted partners. As with other blazing stars, the flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies. Full sun; average soil. Perennial; Zones 3 to 9.
2021-collected seeds sold out. I will probably collect again in fall 2022. At least 25 seeds.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
