Description
Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus var. azureus), also known as chickling pea or chickling vetch, bears small, intensely blue flowers that may be tinged with pink. Occasionally, a white-flowered plant will appear as well. The flowers usually bloom through summer—possibly all season in cool climates—scattered among slender, bright green leaves along slender, vining stems that typically reach 3 to 4 feet. Try it on a short trellis in a container, let it trail out of a windowbox, or plant it in a mid-border position and let it weave into and up through companion plants. Full sun. Annual.
Collected in July 2022. At least 10 seeds.

Germinated well after an overnight soak, sown in late spring in a greenhouse. A vigorous grower and a really fun plant that likes to twine around and wander over the garden. Wonderful blue flowers.
