Description
Path rush (Juncus tenuis) is a low-growing perennial usually reaching about 1 foot tall, with slender, bright-green, grass-like foliage, plus greenish flowers in late spring to early or midsummer, maturing to golden brown seedheads in summer. It’s a tough plant and can tolerate compacted soil and occasional foot traffic but is best suited as a groundcover or as lower-level part of a meadow-type planting or rain garden. Path rush is native to much of North America. Full sun to partial shade; normally grows in moist conditions but is adaptable. Perennial; Zones 3 to 9.
Harvested in mid July 2021 from plants that grow wild in my meadow in Bucks County, PA. At least 50 seeds.
