‘Sazanami’ Japanese morning glory (Ipomoea nil), also known as ‘Ripples Sparkle’ or ‘Sazanami #2’, produces gorgeous, large, light blue flowers with variable, deeper blue spokes and a white throat, as well as some white speckling. As the blooms age, they tend to take on pink tinges. The twining vines also carry green leaves that are splashed with irregular, silvery markings. Full sun. Annual.
Collected in late September and early October 2021. At least 8 seeds. Be aware that these seeds are open-pollinated, and I grow other Japanese morning glories, so there is a possibility of some genetic variation. I do try to keep the various strains separated, though, to minimize the chance of crossing.
