Germination Information: I highly recommend carefully nicking the seeds and then soaking them overnight before sowing to encourage germination. Start the seeds in mid-spring on a moist paper towel in a plastic bag in a warm spot and pot them up as they sprout, or sow in a pot (1/4 to 1/2″ deep) in warm, bright conditions indoors (a heat mat really helps). Even in ideal conditions, germination can be slow and irregular, so be patient.

Description

‘Sazanami’ Japanese morning glory (Ipomoea nil), also known as ‘Ripples Sparkle’ or ‘Sazanami #2’, produces gorgeous, large, light blue flowers with variable, deeper blue spokes and a white throat, as well as some white speckling. As the blooms age, they tend to take on pink tinges. The twining vines also carry green leaves that are splashed with irregular, silvery markings. Full sun. Annual.

Collected in mid to late October 2022. At least 6 seeds. Very limited quantity; one packet per customer. Be aware that these seeds are open-pollinated, and I grow other Japanese morning glories, so there is a possibility of some genetic variation. I do try to keep the various strains separated, though, to minimize the chance of crossing.

Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
