Description
Globe amaranths (Gomphrena) are wonderful for their “something different” factor, with dense, globe-shaped bobbles of papery scales at the end of long, slender stems. On ‘Strawberry Fields’, a strain of G. haageana, the globes are a rich, bright red, and they appear for months: early or midsummer to frost, usually. The bushy plants generally reach about 2 feet tall. They thrive in heat and are marvelous for filling space in a bed, border, or container planting. And, the flowers are terrific for cutting for fresh arrangements, or for drying. The more you cut, the more new flowers you’ll get! Full sun to light shade. Annual.
Collected in July through September 2022. At least 20 seeds.
