Gomphrena haageana ‘Mandarin Orange’ (Globe Amaranth) [15 Seeds]

$4.25

Germination Information: Sow the seeds indoors in early to mid spring and cover them with about 1/8″ of growing medium, then set them in a very warm place for germination. Some references suggest soaking the seeds for a day or two before sowing. You could try that if you’ve had trouble sprouting these seeds before, but I haven’t found it necessary. Last year, I sowed my seeds on March 28 with a heat mat, and they sprouted on April 1; your experience may vary.

Description

Whether you’re looking for long-lasting cut flowers or simply want to enjoy months of easy-care color on heat-tolerant plants, globe amaranths (Gomphrena) are a great choice. ‘Mandarin Orange’ is a selection of G. haageana with—not surprisingly—orange blooms. Its color isn’t as intense as the red of ‘Strawberry Fields’, which makes it easier to pair with softer colors in the garden or in fresh or dried arrangements. The bushy plants generally reach about 2 feet tall. Full sun to light shade. Annual.

Collected starting in mid July 2022. At least 15 seeds.

Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
