Description
Bronze fennel (Foeniculum vulgare ‘Purpureum’) has feathery bronze foliage on stems that reach 5 to 6 feet tall, with umbels of yellow flowers in mid- to late summer. The leaves, flowers, and seeds are all aromatic and edible. The foliage also provides a food source for the larvae of swallowtail butterflies. Bronze fennel is likely to self-sow if you don’t harvest the seeds. Full sun to light shade. Perennial herb; Zones 4 to 9.
Collected in late October 2022. At least 15 seeds.
