Celosia argentea var. spicata ‘Xantippe’ (Spike Celosia) [25 Seeds]
Germination Information: Sow the seeds indoors (about 1/4″ deep) under lights in warm conditions in early to mid-spring. Or, sow directly in your garden around your last frost date. You’re likely to find self-sown seedlings the following year.
The last time I started ‘Xantippe’ from seed (2021), I sowed indoors under lights on a heat may on March 16, and germination began on March 21. The plants began flowering in early June.
Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive.

‘Xantippe’ spike celosia (Celosia argentea var. spicata or C. spicata) plants have a dense, bushy habit, with silvery pink spikes at the tip of each stem. Reaching 24 to 30 inches tall, they look terrific near the front to middle of a border, along a path, as a low annual “hedge,” or in a mixed container planting. ‘Xantippe’ works well as a cut or dried flower for bouquets and arrangements too. Full sun. Annual.
Harvested starting in early July 2021. At least 25 seeds.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
