Description
‘Mega Punk’ spike celosia (Celosia argentea var. spicata or C. spicata) produces reddish pink flower spikes and reddish green to deep red leaves on 2- to 4-foot-tall stems. It’s a showy accent in an annual or mixed border and excellent as a cut flower too. This seed strain evolved here at Hayefield many years ago, from ‘Punky Red’ growing next to ‘Wine Sparkler’. Full sun. Annual.
Harvested in August and September 2022. At least 20 seeds.

Good germination on these, and the color is fantastic. Mine are a bit leggy, but that’s likely on me for starting them so late. Will try them again next year, but earlier, and en masse.
