Betonica officinalis (Betony) [20 Seeds]
$4.25
Germination Information: I recommend these seeds for experienced seed-starters only, because germination may be slow and irregular and require patience. The easiest approach is to surface-sow the seeds in a pot in fall to late winter, setting them outdoors in a spot protected from mice so they can get a chilling period and then germinate when conditions are right in spring.
If you sow after February, give the pot an artificial chilling period of about a month.

Description
Betony (Betonica officinalis, formerly Stachys officinalis) produces dense basal clumps of scalloped, deep green leaves. Upright, 18- to 24-inch-tall stems are topped with spikes of flowers in shades of purplish pink in early to midsummer. If you aren’t planning to collect seed, I suggest shearing the whole plant to about 1 inch above the ground once the flowers are finished; the plants will then produce tidy mounds of fresh leaves that look good through the rest of the growing season. Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 4 to 8.
Collected in mid to late August 2023. At least 20 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.

Very happy with my success with these seeds. You can always count on Nan’s seeds to be quality and fresh. I winter sow mine and they certainly responded. Looking forward to bloom season next year!
