Description
Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) produces stout, upright stems usually 4 to 6 feet tall, with clusters of fragrant pink flowers in summer. It can spread vigorously by creeping rhizomes but is worth growing in an out-of-the-way spot as a host plant for monarch butterfly larvae. This U. S. native also attracts a variety of beneficial pollinators. It’s so important to grow this plant, wherever you can. Full sun. Perennial; Zones 4 to 9.
Collected in September and October 2020. Provenance is Bucks County, PA (seeds are from wild plants growing in my meadow). At least 20 seeds.
