Description
Columbines (Aquilegia vulgaris) are best known for their distinctive, spurred flowers, and the parent plant of these seeds is no exception, blooming in a pretty shade of pink. Its sunny yellow foliage is a great bonus feature! The leaf color is strongest in spring, with some colorful new leaves possibly appearing later in the season, particularly as the weather cools. I do have other columbines growing elsewhere here at Hayefield, so there’s a possibility that these seeds may produce some off-type plants. I don’t think any others were blooming at the same time these were, though, so there’s a good chance they will be true. Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 3 to 9.
2021-collected seeds sold out. I don’t yet know if I will be able to collect from this plant in 2022. At least 20 seeds.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
