Branched St Bernard’s lily (Anthericum ramosum) is an out-of-the-ordinary perennial that produces slender, 24- to 30-inch-tall stems carrying starry white flowers through much of the summer over clumps of narrow, green leaves. The overall effect is something like that of Gaura lindheimeri, but Anthericum ramosum is more tolerant of less-than-perfect drainage. It’s a quietly charming thing for a special spot where you can appreciate it at fairly close range. It can easily get crowded out by rambunctious companions, so consider pairing it with well-behaved partners, such as English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 5 to 8.
Collected in early August 2022. At least 15 seeds.
