Description
Stiff bluestar (Amsonia rigida) is a U.S. native that produces clusters of light blue flowers in late spring and rich yellow fall leaf color; 18 to 24 inches tall. The overall effect is something like that of ‘Blue Ice’, but this species is a distinctly a clump-former rather than a spreader. The plants I collected these seeds from were growing near Arkansas bluestar (A. hubrichtii), so there’s a small possibility that some seedlings may show some intermediate traits. Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 5(?) to 9.
Collected in October 2020. At least 20 seeds.
Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
