Germination Information: Generally, these seeds sprout quickly if you surface-sow them in warm, moist, bright conditions. (The last time I started some, I sowed them indoors on May 1, 2020 and set the pot on a heat mat under lights, and the first seedlings appeared on May 5.) If no seedlings appear within 2 weeks or so, then set the pot in a plastic bag in your refrigerator for about a month. Then remove it from the plastic bag and move it to a warm, bright place for germination.

Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive.

Description

‘Golden Jubilee’ anise hyssop (Agastache foeniculum) is equally at home in herb gardens, perennial borders, and pollinator plantings. The distinctive feature of this seed strain is its fragrant, bright yellow foliage (particularly brilliant in spring to early summer). It also produces purple-blue flower spikes atop 2- to 3-foot-tall stems through summer into fall. Bees love them! Pinch off the faded spikes to encourage rebloom or leave them on the plant if you’d like to get self-sown seedlings. Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 4 to 9. (Just FYI, spring-started seedlings usually flower the first year, so you can also grow this as an annual.)

Collected in early to mid September 2022. At least 25 seeds. Shipping to US addresses only.

Germination was pretty good on these seeds, and I have one little clump going pretty good in my raised beds. The color is beautiful, and they must taste wonderful because the bugs keep eating them. Recommend starting these inside to give them the best chance. My direct sown ones got eaten before really getting established.
