Even after a month of no rain, the ‘Hayefield Hybrid’ baptisias are looking terrific—much to the delight of local bumblebees, who are helping to ensure a good seed harvest. These plants are all the result of natural crossing among various species, including Baptisia alba, B. australis, and B. sphaerocarpa, as well as ‘Purple Smoke’ and ‘Carolina Moonlight’. #baptisiahayefieldhybrids #hayefield #hayefieldseeds #baptisia
Elegant in its typical species form, Miami mist (Phacelia purshii) has some interesting variants as well. So far, this native annual has produced forms with white flowers, with solid yellow leaves, and with variegated foliage in my garden. #phaceliapurshii #miamimist #nativeannuals #panativeplants #hayefield #hayefieldseeds
