Finally, it looks like we’re in for a beautiful Sunday in our part of Pennsylvania. Now that the sun is fully up, there’s not a cloudlet to be seen, so hopefully the snow we got a few days ago will melt. The permanent garden residents are tired of winter, and so am I.
And so are the boys. I thought they’d be happy today: They like the sunshine too, and the new bale of hay I opened this morning was very clover-y, and that usually cheers them up. Still, they appear to be in a bit of a mood. Maybe we’ll wait until tomorrow to go for a walk.

nan – these are beautiful pictures and they really capture the anticipation of spring. Nice work!
Thanks, Gina!

The boys look happy, though, Nan…same with my horse and donkey-from-mars, who can get outdoors again so they’re feeling better about life. Perfect sunny day here, too, except it’s cold with the wind off the Bay. But I’ll take sun and cold over grey and gloomy and mild, any day of the week (in winter, that is).
But Jodi, that’s their ” Please go away so we can eat in peace” look. I can see from my window that their mood has lightened considerably over the last few hours, now that they’ve had time to pick the good stuff out of all of the hay piles. Maybe we’ll get out for a walk yet. Hope your two critters are enjoying the sunshine!

Hi nan
We have been lucky and have had sunshine here too. BUT we are having snow on Tuesday apparently (Crafty Gardener .. in my area just had to TELL me that ! haha) ..
Love the morning picture .. the garden critters and the boys ! LOL ..
I think we aill all feel a lot better when Spring actually comes and STAYS for a while !
Joy
Sorry to hear that, Joy. I think we’re getting rain here instead of snow. Hopefully this will be over *soon*!

Very nice post :) Beautiful photos!
Thank you, Marie. I admire your photographs, too!

Your boys look sweet even though they may be a bit sassy today. Sunshine is so good for all our moods. Hope you got to take that walk. Received your two books, Foliage and Fallscaping and am drooling on the pages, must wear a bib!
Frances at Faire Garden
The boys thank you for saying so, Frances. I decided to delay our walk until tomorrow. There’s still too much snow and ice piled along the roadsides, which makes it hard for us to get over when cars go by. Hopefully they’ll be cheery tomorrow.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the books. Don’t worry about the drool, that’s why they print on glossy paper: It wipes off well.

Cute garden sculptures. Very endearing photos of your (llamas?). Do you have many of them?
You have a very nice blog. I enjoyed the purples and the grass posts.
Hi Shady! “The boys” are alpacas, half-brothers and inseparable. I have just the two of them.
Thanks for your comments about the blog. It’s getting tough to remember whether I’m writing here or at Gardening Gone Wild; not that it matters much, I guess!

Me too!! I’m so ready for Spring. You have very cute animals both alive and frozen:)
Hi Anna! You have even more reason than most of us, I think, with so many exciting projects ahead of you this year!
-Nan
I hope spring will come soon now Nan, for your garden too. Do you take the alpaca’s for walkies? What fun! Isn’t it great how sunshine perks up everybody? Enjoy your walkies and take lots of pics! :-)
Hi Yolanda! Yep, the boys and I go for walkies a few times a week, weather permitting. They are better behaved on lead than many dogs in our neighborhood!

The boys look happy with their new bale of hay. Those faces sure are cute :) I hope you managed to get out for a walk today. We had glorious sunshine yesterday too, and more today, with temps reaching about 42º. It really does perk us up, doesn’t it?
We’ve had deer visitors apparently. There were tracks meandering much of the front yard on Sunday, where they’d explored the possibilities. I hope they decide to forage somewhere else in future!
Hi Kerri! We did get out for a lovely walk/jog today, in preparation for all of us being stuck indoors tomorrow. We even found a little patch of grass for them to graze on, and some pussy willow for them to nibble on too. Oh dear about your deer! I’ve had the same tracks in my own garden, so I empathize with your worries.
